Destination of the Day: 'Cedar Rapids', filmed in Ann Arbor, MI

Destination 2 in the series "Ready for my close-up"

Confused?????  A film set in one Midwestern city, Cedar Rapids, filmed in another Midwestern city, Ann Arbor.  At least it is not as bad as Toronto (a fantastic city) filling in for New York, Chicago, Miami, etc.  According to news reports Iowa ended its film tax credits so the production was moved to Michigan.  From the reviews I have read Cedar Rapids might be one you will want to sneak out to see.

Regardless, both cities can make for a fun get-away.  Ann Arbor is jam packed with UM museums (best university museum system in the Midwest) and great bars while Cedar Rapids is undergoing a flood-encouraged transformation with a soon to open new convention center complex, an existing art museum, and with a little travel the Amana Colonies.

Plot (from Wikipedia): To call insurance agent Tim Lippe (Ed Helms) "naive" is a gross understatement.. He's never left his small Wisconsin hometown. He's never stayed at a hotel. And he's never experienced anything like Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Sent to the "major metropolis" to represent his company at the annual insurance convention, because his boss recently died in an auto-erotic asphyxiation accident. Tim is soon distracted by three convention veterans (John C. Reilly, Anne Heche and Isiah Whitlock Jr.) who will show him the ropes and push his boundaries. For a guy who plays everything by the book, this convention will be anything but conventional.
