Destination of the Day: Dow Gardens, Midland, MI

Destination 5 in the series "What do May flowers bring?"

The product of the Dow family's commitment to Midland, this 110 acre garden has several themed areas including the Color Garden, Stream Walk, Pineside, and Exploration Garden.  The paths, most paved and wheelchair friendly, provide access to the the Conservatory, The Pines (home of Herbert and Grace Dow), library, and two striking bridges.  When planning a trip check the tour schedule for the nearby Alden B Dow Home and Studio.  An apprentice of Frank Lloyd Write, Alden Dow's stunning home is just one example of his work and is a must-see by fans of mid-20th century architecture.
