Great Lakes & Upper South in the News: The Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, Louisville, KY

It is Kentucky Derby Day!  Called 'the most exciting two minutes in sports' the Derby is the first race of the Triple Crown.  Located south of downtown and near the University of Louisville, the stadium offers near year-round on- and off-track betting.  Also as part of the complex is the separately managed Kentucky Derby Museum.  The recently renovated museum's exhibits include galleries on the horses, trainers, and jockeys who have made their mark on horse racing.  A "behind the scenes' hour and a half tour is well worth the $10.00 (a free with admission 30 minute tour is also available).
