Destination of the Week: Quad Cities, IA-Rock Island Arsenal

Destination of the Week: Quad Cities, IA-Rock Island Arsenal

Don’t let the fact that you will be stopped and vehicle checked deter you from visiting the historical sites that sit on this 946 acre US Army complex.  Oh, and follow the rules to the LETTER!  While friendly, the security teams are pretty strict.  Attractions include the Mississippi River Visitor Center (educational displays on the Mississippi lock system, including a viewing balcony), Rock Island Arsenal Museum (museum on the history of the arsenal.  HUGE display of military guns), and Fort Armstrong (US military outpost used in the 1800s.  Now only a small outdoor display).
