Destination of the Week: Detroit, MI-Greenfield Village (in suburban Dearborn)

Where else can you visit the Wright Cycle Shop, Robert Frost’s home, or have lunch in a 1850 tavern?  Greenfield Village offers an entire day’s worth of entertainment, education, and memories.  The campus is themed into seven districts.   Since the park is pretty much all outdoors it may be best to visit during good weather.  Other attractions offered include the Ford Rouge Factory Tour and an IMAX Theatre.

Note: It may be tempting to try to tackle the two museums, the tour, and theatre in one day.  If you are really time pressed, it may be possible, but not recommended.  Also, transit options from downtown Detroit hotels to Dearborn are limited and potentially expensive.  Fortunately Dearborn has a number of great hotels and an Amtrak station.
