This unforgettable monument and park is both the literal and figurative center of downtown Indianapolis. During the summer tourists, locals, and office workers find the steps a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun. The monument is actually in two sections. The Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum, located in the base, covers Indiana’s contribution to one of the most tragic wars in American history. When done, head up the stairs for access to the tower section. A visitor can select to take the stairs or pay a little more to use the elevator. From experience, spend the extra money!!!!
