Home museums can be at best hit-or-miss. Some capture amazing people and events, while others are monuments to people long forgotten. The Driehaus Museum really is neither-its specialty is architecture. Unlike some home museums you can tour the entire home without a guide, although you can join a docent-lead tour. Located just blocks from the North Michigan Avenue shopping district, it can be a nice break from finding the latest fashion. On the downside, tickets can be very pricy.
