Destination of the Week: Dubuque, Galena & Jo Daviess County, IL

Destination of the Week: Dubuque, Galena & Jo Daviess County, IL

Summary:
Far from the lights of Davenport, Chicago, and Milwaukee and along the banks of the Mississippi River is Galena and Dubuque. For most, Galena is the main attraction with its wineries, boutiques, spas, and golfing. Only 16 miles away is the small city of Dubuque. While not the tourist dream, the city has a number of one of a kind attractions, including one of the few inclines in the Midwest, two casinos, caves, and a Mississippi River museum.

Hotel rooms near Galena can be difficult to secure during the high tourist season. Some may find that it is worth the time to stay in Dubuque with its more active nightlife, wider variety of hotel rooms, and river access.
