Unlike the Quad Cities, Dubuque and Galena do not appear to jointly market the region as a multi-day vacation option, but they should! Over the last few years Dubuque and repurposed its downtown and port. While no Galena, Dubuque has secured a number of museums, a large convention center, a resort hotel, and two casinos. Mississippi River cruises offer a nice break in the action while enjoying the area’s state parks from a unique vantage point.
