Destination of the Week: Wisconsin Dells Area, WI-Wisconsin Dells

Destination of the Week: Wisconsin Dells Area, WI-Wisconsin Dells

It is hard to image that at one time the Wisconsin Dells area was known for its natural beauty and quiet lakes and streams.  While those remain, for better or worse the area is now better known for its waterparks, tourist traps, and t-shirt stores.  Most of the major hotels are located west and south of downtown, which may be for the best.  The downtown area is home to several tourist-centric “museums” (Ripley’s Believe It Or Not), family friendly restaurants, and odd collection of stores.  The largest of the waterparks and attractions can be found on Wisconsin Dells Parkway.  Unlike downtown, the parkway is NOT pedestrian friendly, so be prepared.
