Note: This is Part 2 of exploring Indianapolis. Part 1 was run the Week of April 6.
Indianapolis’ location near the center of the region makes it an ideal destination for a quick weekend getaway. With a wide-range of hotels downtown (which is very walkable), a number of well-designed museums, and busy neighborhoods within walking distance of downtown, a GLCTer will need to be choosy. Like Detroit, public transport is basic, lacking even BRT lines. Fortunately most major attractions are downtown and those not downtown are on major bus lines. If you visit the city during any of the major conventions (including one of the largest gaming conventions in the world), be prepared for longer lines and tighter hotel availability near the convention center. If you are a sports fan, you are in luck-the city has a number of professional and minor league teams.
