Destination of the Week: Chicago-Downtown (West Loop), IL-Greektown

Destination of the Week: Chicago-Downtown (West Loop), IL-Greektown

In the early 20th Century the area around South Halsted Street was the entry point for Greek immigrants moving to Chicago.  But with downtown’s westward expansion, misguided urban renewal efforts, and University of Illinois at Chicago’s expanding campus, this area is a Greektown in name only.  The strip includes some of the best Greek restaurants in Chicago, along with some nice bars, small shops, and the National Hellenic Museum.
